Neapolitan Ice Cream Sisters
Valor & Vanilla
A cozy fantasy adventure of quests, cookies, retired royalty, and courage warm enough to share.
Princess Vera has spent years as the spare to the heir: smiled at, dressed up, and gracefully sidelined. When a strange affliction called the Numbness begins creeping through the kingdoms and dragon realms, Vera volunteers for the kind of quest no one expected from retired royalty. To recover the ingredients for a legendary cure, she will need a brave heart, good company, a better recipe, and the kind of ordinary tenderness that can become extraordinary magic.

Inside the Story
What waits by this hearth.
A Taste of the Quest
Princess Vera has spent years performing whatever role the kingdom required: spare heir, ceremonial stand-in, keeper of posture, polisher of impossible standards. When her family is finally reunited, freedom arrives without an itinerary, which is deeply rude of freedom. Then the Numbness begins stealing warmth and presence from the dragon realms, threatening Dassia, Etchling, and every fragile bond the sisters have only just begun to mend.
The cure is said to be hidden in a recipe: egg, flour, sugar, butter, and the kind of magic that cannot be commanded by titles alone. Vera sets out with a far-too-charming guard named Garrett, a mysterious cat-dragon-raccoon named Merp, an ancient dragon’s warnings, and considerably more luggage than destiny strictly requested. Along the way, a judgmental cottage insists she learn to bake, dragon kingdoms offer ingredients through customs no court manual could survive, and Vera discovers that cookies are distressingly immune to royal authority.
Expect sacred eggs, crystal roads sweet enough to tempt questionable licking, butter-tea in meadows where no one is in a hurry, slow-burn tenderness, and a princess learning that valor may look less like a grand declaration than showing up warm-handed, again and again, for the people and creatures who need her.
For Readers
Reader Treats
Step into The Fifth Ingredient, an immersive scrolling prologue to Valor & Vanilla. One field of a hundred thousand particles becomes each world of the Prophecy of Tending as you scroll — the cold amaranthine pendant, the summoning seal, the four ingredient kingdoms, and the hidden fifth ingredient — with every line of verse drawn from the book. Scroll back up and the story unhappens.
Begin the journey with Vera & Merp's Vanilla Quest Playlist, a 30-song reading companion arranged around eight spoiler-safe chapter phases. Readers who prefer music without lyrics can choose the 12-track Quiet Reading Loop and let its courtly piano, playful strings, riverlight, and hearth warmth circle while they read.
Valor & Vanilla is cozy enough to begin with Vera, even if you have not read Chivalry & Chocolate yet. New readers can follow this quest on its own, while returning readers will catch extra echoes from Dassia, Etchling, Cozyhood Commons, and the first book's found-family magic. Vera's story carries royal composure into dragon lands full of sacred ingredients, opinionated customs, impossible hospitality, and one small fluffy companion who has no respect for paperwork.
Book clubs and buddy reads can linger over questions of second daughters, performed perfection, grief, sisterhood, food as care, and the ordinary kind of courage that keeps choosing the next small thing. Expect a sentient cottage with strong domestic opinions, Garrett's maddeningly useful steadiness, dragon realms with wildly different definitions of comfort, and enough vanilla-scented magic to make a cookie feel like a questing instrument.
